Key Systems Simulated

Checklist item triggers & flows

Rear Center Tank (RCT) Fuel Management System
Permanent 12,900-liter aft fuselage fuel tank engineered into the XLR to achieve 4,700 nautical mile range.
Airbus Double-Slotted Trailing Edge Flaps
Modified flap architecture unique to the A321 to handle higher landing gross weights without excessive approach speeds.
Runway Overrun Prevention System (ROPS)
Real-time computation of aircraft deceleration versus remaining runway length, providing audio alerts if runway is too short.
Airbus Fly-by-Wire & Pitch Attitude Protection
Full envelope protection with automated pitch attitude limiting to protect against tailstrikes during takeoff and landing flare.
PILOT KNOWLEDGE BASE & DOSSIER

CHIEF INSTRUCTOR BRIEFING & OPERATIONAL NOTES

Due to the longer fuselage, rotate at a strictly controlled rate (no faster than 3 degrees per second) to avoid scraping the tail. On landing flare, do not increase pitch attitude above 7.5 degrees.

AIRCRAFT TRIVIA & HIGHLIGHTS
1FACT #1

The A321XLR can fly non-stop for up to 11 hours (London to Miami or New York to Rome) – longer than many widebody twin-aisle jets!

2FACT #2

Because of its longer fuselage, the A321 has a smaller tailstrike pitch limit (9.7° uncompressed) compared to the A320 (13.5°).

3FACT #3

The A321neo is the most profitable commercial aircraft in the world for airlines on high-density transatlantic and European routes.
